Definition:
DTI – Distance Through Isolation. The smallest distance between two voltage domains in the isolator internal to the isolation package

Various standards define DTI. IEC 60747-17 which refers to IEC 60664 to define DTI (IEC 60664 is the Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems). DTI is the thickness of insulation material and gives a good understanding of theoretical insulating capabilities.
Some end equipment standards may specify a minimum distance through isolation value; however, provisions are included to allow an isolator to become certified if they can pass additional type tests.
