ISO1430: ISO1430 Power supply

Part Number: ISO1430

Is it possible to use ISO1430 is suspended by cutting off only the VCC2 power supply among the VCC1/VCC2 power supplies?

  • Hi Yuta-san,

    Thank you for reaching out.

To make sure I am interpreting your question correctly, I am assuming that you wanted to know if it is okay to only power VCC1 and not power VCC2 under a specific test condition. Yes, VCC1 and VCC2 power two different die in the device and they can be independently powered. Having only one supply doesn't cause any device damage.

For the device to be operational and support the performance stated in datasheet, both VCC1 and VCC2 needs to be powered. The device will wait for both power supplies and once both are available, the device will operate normal. When only one supply is powered, the outputs will stay in default state. Thanks.

  • Hi, Mr. Rao

Thanks for reply, Your answer matches what I wanted.

However, I have one more concern.

The question is whether an abnormality will occur if the RS485 communication partner terminal is operating with only VCC1 being supplied and VCC2 not being supplied.

Ex ) Damage to own transceiver or the other party's transceiver, etc.

  • Hi Yuta-san,

    Thank you for the clarification.

The RS-485 bus pins (A & B) will be able to withstand upto ±18V even when VCC2 is not powered as stated in the absolute maximum ratings of ISO1430 datasheet. Hence, there won't be any damage with VCC1 is powered, VCC2 is not powered and the device is connected to an active RS-485 bus.

I hope this answers your question, thanks.
