SN6507: Under what circumstances will SN6507 be latched off and must be powered on again to recover?

Part Number: SN6507

HI,

In SN6507 datasheet, under OVLO and UVLO will lock out SN6507 and stop switching, but SN6507 can recover when OVLO and UVLO is disappeared.

customer wants to know if any other conditions will let SN6507 be locked out and stop switching and must be powered on again (power off VCC, then power on VCC again)  to recover?

  • Hi Ken,

    Thank you for reaching out.

UVLO and OVLO are the two features that can make the device stop switching as the VCC voltage is outside normal operating conditions. Once the voltage comes back to normal operating range, the device starts switching normal.

One other feature that stops switching is the thermal shutdown. Device turns off the switches when the junction temperature reaches 180C and waits for the device to cool down. Once device cools down to 147C or below, the switches are enabled again for switching.

Other than the above two features, the remaining protection features do not require device to be power recycled. They monitor the fault condition continuously and start working once the fault is removed like the over current protection (OCP). Thanks.
