ISOM8710: Max input voltages for ISOM8710?

Part Number: ISOM8710

Would you please kindly help clarify the maximum of  Vinput when Vcc = 5V?

many thanks.

  • Hello Kelly,

The ISOM8710 is an opto-emulator device that replicates the behavior of an optocoupler without the drawbacks of the traditional solution. There are few key points to know about opto-emulators.

    1. Side 1 (pins 1 and 2) and Side 2 (pins 3-5) operate independently from each other due to the isolation barrier. The GND pins should be kept separate throughout the design.
    2. This means that he VCC does not affect the Maximum VIN
    3.  Opto-emulators are current driven devices. As a result, the maximum input (IF) current is 25mA. The input current will be limited with a series resistance to the Anode and can be calculated using IF = (Vin-VF)/Rin. Where VF is the forward voltage of the diode (1.2V typ).

I hope this helps. Please see our FAQ's Opto-Emulators for more information.

  • Hi Andrew,

thanks very much. it is very useful.
