ISO1050: 2900Vdc test on ISO1050DUB interface

Hi team,

At present, when customer machine's strong power applies 2900V withstand voltage to the communication interface (the machine is completely unpowered), it is found that the communication chip has a certain probability of being damaged.

Rising time of 0-2900V is 5s, continue time is 5s, failing time is 5s.

Do you have any suggestions on If the chip is damaged, customer will directly replace it with a new one. If the chip is not damaged, will it have any impact on its service life? Can it continue to be used?

    I am assuming that you are referring to UL 1577 withstand voltage. The ISO1050DUB package version has a smaller withstand voltage than the other package option. Viso (withstand isolation voltage) is 2500Vrms or less. A voltage of 2900Vrms is higher than the rated limit. 

    A single strike is unlikely to damage the device however the lifetime of the isolation barrier may be affected.

    Below is the condition from customer feedback. Whether this is a surge test? Not a primary-secondary isolation voltage test? And customer feedback the voltage is input from the communication port.

    The table that the customer provided has a maximum voltage of 1700 Vdc which ISO1050 should be able to handle easily without any damage. I'm not sure why previously 2900 V voltage as reported. Please clarify with the customer.
