ISO3086: half-duplex mode

Hello!
originally I wanted to use the ISO35T for my application but as I have only 5V supply on the iso side I used the ISO3086T in same way like the ISO35T for half-duplex mode.

Is this possible or is it absolutley necessary to use the ISO3088?

Connecting the inputs and output together like this is allowed; this is the same what the ISO3088 does internally:
