ISO6763-Q1: Absolute maximum ratings

Part Number: ISO6763-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

In the Absolute maximum ratings Tj says "Operating junction temperature"

TI datasheet use TJ, junction temperature. What is the meaning of "operating" here?

In this datasheet It means TAmax:125℃ in Recommended Operating Conditions equals to Tjmax:150℃ in Absolute Maximum Ratings?

regards,

Shoo

  • Hi Shoo,

    Thank you for reaching out.

The word "operating" in operating junction temperature basically means that the device will operate according to the datasheet as long as it remains below the maximum junction temperature of 150C. Therefore, 150C is the maximum temperature the device is guaranteed to operate at without damage (either immediate or over time).

To clarify, junction temperature is not a parameter that can directly be applied externally, rather it can only be calculated based on other test conditions. Therefore, junction temperature only has absolute maximum range defined. Even during device operation, this is the same range that a user should refer and limit the device use such that junction temperature doesn't exceed absolute maximum limit.

The recommended operating conditions is the conditions we recommend in order to maintain the guaranteed operation of the device. The absolute maximum ratings are the maximum conditions that guarantee the survival of the device. Beyond the absolute maximum ratings, the device can get damaged and not operate as per the datasheet specifications.
