ISOM8110: The impact of common-mode noise

Part Number: ISOM8110

Dear Specialists,

My customer is interested in ISOM8110 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

The ISOM8110 uses a silicon dioxide-based (SiO2) isolation barrier internally.
Is there any concern that common-mode noise will leak to the secondary side?
Is this inferior to a photocoupler?

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hello Shinichi-san,

Common mode noise coupling is generally dictated by the capacitance from side 1 to side 2. The ISOM811x family has a barrier capacitance (CIO) of 1pF and most opto-couplers are around the same. Therefore, we do not expect a significant performance shift compared to optocouplers.

    Best,
    Andrew

  • Hi Andrew,
