ISO7421: Replacement for IL711 Isolator

Part Number: ISO7421
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7720, ISO7761, ISO7741, ISO1410

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a replacement for IL711 isolator, but I have few questions

Can I use "Capacitive Coupling" technology instead of GMR (Giant Magnetoresistive) ?

If I can use capacivite coupling technology instead of GMR, please advise me some products. My application is isolating RS232 and RS422.

Also isolators should work in -55 +125 celsius temperature range.

Thanks!

  • Hi,

The closest replacement to the IL711 would be the ISO7720 - a two channel digital isolator which is rated for -55 to +125C. Capactitive coupling technology should work for your application. If you need more channels we also have the ISO7741 (four channel) or ISO7761 (six channel) digital isolators.

We do have some integrated isolator + RS-485 transceiver solutions, but none of them are rated for -55C.

I will also provide a link for "How to Isolate Signal and Power for an RS-485 System." This paper mentions several ways to design isolated RS-485 solutions and mentions one of our newest devices - ISO1410 which is sampling now and will be releasing soon.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

    Best regards,

    Dan
