ISO1050: HOW WITHSTAND VOLTAGE OF ISO1050 PIN TO EARTH?

Part Number: ISO1050

Dear Experts,

our customer used ISO1050, and failed in the withstand voltage test, they want to know how much the withstand voltage of ISO1050 every pin to earth?

please help!

  • Hi Kane,

Thank you for posting to E2E! The ISO1050 isolation barrier can withstand voltage levels shown on Table 3 of the datasheet depending on the test method and device configuration.

Can you please share the system and pin setup and that our customer used for their tests?

    We will await your response.

    Thank you,

    Manuel Chavez

  • the withstand voltage has been showed in this table?

as the question, we want to know the withstand voltage between ISO1050 every pin to earth,  could you help to provide the data?

  • Hi Kane,

To be able to tell you the maximum isolation withstand voltage (VISO) that ISO1050 can withstand, I would need to know how is device connected to Earth. For most of our high voltage isolation tests, we follow the test setup shown below.

The table (Table 3 in ISO1050 datasheet) that Manuel was referring to is on page 16, I am also copying it below for your reference. With the test setup described in previous paragraph, ISO1050 can support maximum withstand isolation voltage (VISO) of 2.5kVrms for SOP package (ISO1050DUB) and 4243Vrms for SOIC package (ISO1050DW) as per UL 1577. I hope this answers your question, thanks.

  • Dear Koteshwar,

Thanks firstly, have any questions i will contact you soon. it seems that your answer is useful to us.

  • Dear Koteshwar,

you provide is the ESD Voltage,i want to know  the withstand voltage level of Vcc1 to PE、CANL to PE, each pin to PE etc...

  • Hi Kane,

The table I have shared in my previous post lists isolation withstand voltage VISO per UL 1577 as also indicated in the table. Please do note that isolation withstand voltage VISO is specified only for an isolation barrier and is defined as withstand voltage of an isolator between any pin on one side of isolation (VCC1 side) to any pin on another side (VCC2 side).

In many of the applications, one of the GND pins is connected to PE either directly or through a capacitance. In such cases, testing any pin on one side to PE on another side will be equivalent to testing the isolator between any pins on the two sides.

If you meaning to request a different voltage, please do help us with some clarification on what data you are looking for so that we can help you accordingly. Thanks.
