ISO7740: Take care the power consumption

Part Number: ISO7740
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7340C, ISO7041

HI sir

my cusotmer take care the power consumption in isolation device

according to data sheet, i see the adum2400 power consumption is lower than ISO7740

Right?

  • Hi Chen,

ISO7740 employs OOK architecture for communication and hence consumes slightly more current compared to ADuM2400 while ADuM2400 uses an older edge-based architecture that is slightly lower powered.

We have ISO7340C that follows similar architecture as ADuM2400 and hence similar power consumption. If your datarate is more than 1Mbps than ISO7340C consumes significantly lower current than ADuM2400.

If current consumption is critical for customer and if they desire to have even lower current then ISO7041 might be of interest. ISO7041 is an ultra-low power digital isolator consuming only about 3.5µA of quiescent current.

Let me know if you have any further questions, thank you..

  • HI Koteshwar Rao

Customer take care the 5kw isolation & need low quiescent current.

the end appliction is smart water meter

    do you have any advise?

    ISO7340C only have the – 3-KVRMS Isolation

  • Hi Chen,

Thank you for sharing the end application. Unfortunately we do not offer 5kV digital isolator devices with lower quiescent current than ISO77xx devices at this time.

For our understanding, at which datarate is the isolator operating?

    Respectfully,
    Manuel Chavez
