SN6501: SN6501 vs TRACO

Part Number: SN6501

Hi Team,

In the past I have worked with the SN6501/-5, in combination with WE isolation push-pull transformers, for creating medically isolated power management.

In current products THI2-1211M DC/DC converters are used.

Could you explain when one should choose push-pull transformers and when dc/dc converter modules are preferred?

  • Hi Stefan,

Thank you for posting to E2E! Choosing between a push-pull transformer driver and DC/DC module is based on factors specific to each power product and each end project.

SN650x transformer drivers offer benefits such as high efficiency, flexibility in design, low electromagnetic emissions, small device package, and in projects where cost is important, they may be part of a cost-effective solution compared to DC/DC modules.

The decision is not a straightforward one, but if you'd like to share the guidelines or parameters of importance for you or our customers, I can offer further considerations.

    Thank you,
    Manuel Chavez

  • Hi Manuel,

thats all the info I need so far! Thank you!

I will follow up with you later on in the design phase.
