SN6505A: 3.3Vin->5Vout/430mA

Part Number: SN6505A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6505B

Hello expert,

May I know if SN6505A or B could support 3.3Vin->5Vout/430mA? Customer would like to use PH9384.012NL(1:2 push pull transformer) and input current might be higher than 1A, right? If it is not a problem, which one should be the suitable solution for customer's applicaiton? A or B part? Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

    Yes, both SN6505A and SN6505B support 3.3V -> 5V @ 430mA requirements. The transformer needs to meet both the turns ratio and V-µs requirement to be able to support a particular voltage / current requirement. PH9384.012NL meets both the requirements for both SN6505A and SN6505B and hence, can be used with either of them. The input current is expected to be closer to but less than 1A which shouldn't be an issue.

    The major difference between SN6505A (160 kHz) and SN6505B (420 kHz) is the switching frequency. The lower switching frequency of SN6505A is beneficial when radiated emissions performance of the power supply solution is critical for customer although we expect both SN6505A and SN6505B to meet most customer radiated emissions requirements.

    Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks.
