ESD Resources

HI,team

I am checking the ESD standard of ISO7741.

Can I prepare oscilloscope waveform data when ESD of each standard (eg IEC 60601-1, IEC 61000-4-2) is applied to the signal terminal?
If you do not have an oscilloscope waveform, can you give me a report on ESD test results?

best regards
cafain

  • Hi Cafain,

I do not have an oscilloscope waveform ready, but I can definitely give you some more information on these standards and if we meet them.

The product folder of each of our isolation devices also has the certifications each device has met under the technical documents tab (found under "More Literature"). Here is a link to the CSA Certification of the ISO7741. IEC60601-1 is covered in that certification I believe. As to the other example you gave, IEC 610000-4-2, is a system level test, not a component level test, and so therefore a certification is not appropriate there. Perhaps I can help in this way: what level of ESD barrier protection are you trying to achieve with your design?

    Best regards,

    Dan

  • Hi, Dan-san

I thought that I saw the following thread and conformed to IEC61000-4-2.
    e2e.ti.com/.../611333

ESD specification(IEC61000-4-2) at the system level, so I agree with your comment.
Confirm the ESD immunity required by the application to the designer.

  • Hi,

With ESD requirement specification of 4kV withstand voltage,
we are considering to use it for interface with AD-converter in medical application.

Do you need any other information?

    best regards

  • Hi Cafain,

Sorry for the delay in response.
The ISO77xx passes 8kV ESD contact when tested directly on the device, but at a system level you could even exceed 8kV ESD levels as the ESD strike point on an end equipment is not necessarily going to be on a device pin directly.

Please let me know if that answers your question.
    Best regards,
    Dan
