Replacement for TLP291 opto-coupler

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7710

Team,

can you suggest a replacement for TLP291 opto-coupler?
The part is NRND and I wonder if it can be replaced with a digital isolator.

Thanks!

  • Hi Framziskus,

If the opto-coupler is used for digital data (like for communication) / control (like for gate driving) signal transfer then yes a digital isolator can be used in place of an opto-coupler. This holds true for any opto-coupler used for digital data/control signal transfer.

The most optimum device that you can use for an opto-coupler replacement is the device from ISO77xx family. If customer is only looking for one channel, you can suggest ISO7710 and if customer is looking for more channels then we have devices upto 6 channels in a single package (ISO776x) with multiple channel configurations.
The ISO77xx family of devices are available in multiple package options - Wide Body SOIC-16, Narrow Body SOIC-8, QSOP-16.

Let me know if you have any other questions, thank you.
