Will ISOW7840 survive multiple (10 or more) 15kV common-mode ESD strikes directly across the isolation?

    Hi Armutat,

    The device ISOW7840 is available in WB SOIC-16 pin package and the package has a clearance of about 8mm. A clearance of 8mm typically provides upto 8kV of ESD performance beyond which the air around the package across isolation barrier breaks and creates spark that passes to the isolated side through air and not the device's isolation barrier.

    That said, ISOW7840 supports more than 8kV of common-mode ESD (Contact & Air) strike directly across isolation barrier. Per the IEC 61000-4-2, we test for 10 positive strikes followed by 10 negative strikes and we see that ISOW7840 meets >8kV of ESD. Thanks.
