ISO7141CC: designed for mixed voltage operation

Part Number: ISO7141CC

Ist the ISO7141CC designed for mixed voltage operation, I mean for example VCC1 = 3.3V and VCC2 = 5.0V. When the ISO7141CC is designed for mixed voltage, what are the switching characteristics in mixed mode? The datasheet gives only information for the switching characteristics with the same voltage for VCC1 and VCC2.

  • Hi Michael,

Yes, ISO7141CC can be operated using different supply voltages on either side. Example: VCC1 can be operated at 3.3V and VCC2 can be operated at 5.0V.
Since the two sides are isolated, the supply voltage on one side will not affect the other.

I understand that the datasheet, does not have the switching characteristics when different supply voltages are given, but it can still be roughly estimated from Sections 6.9 and 6.10.
Example the minimum spec for propagation delay time when IC is operated with VCC1 = 3.3V and VCC2 = 5.0V will be in between 12ns (5V spec) and 15ns (3.3V spec). A range for the other switching specs can also be figured out in the same way.

Is this rough estimate good enough for your application?

  • Hi Anand,

thanks for the fast response. Yes this rough estimate is good enough for me.
