ISO1211: Could meet our spec?

Part Number: ISO1211
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8803, TPS27S100

Hi Sirs,

We're survey digital isolators solution.

Could you check ISO1211 is suitable solution?

If not, have others solution can share?

Thanks!!

My spec requirement as below

  • Hi Shu-Cheng LIN,

ISO1211 can be configured to meet "Isolated Digital GPIO Input Usage" requirements by adjusting the external Rthr and Rsense resistor value as mentioned in data sheet. Except for the off-state voltage (LOW): 0 to +4V parameter, please let me know how stringent is this parameter?  (for more details on current and threshold voltage configuration, please refer "Electrical characteristics—DC Specification" section of the datasheet.).

And as ISO1211 is a receiver device, it cannot be used for  "Isolated Digital GPIO Output Usage". I don't think we have any Isolated device that can be directly used for output usage.

To understand the system better and to provide application specific suggestions,  Can you please share more details about the end equipment and application?

    Thanks.

    Regards

    Tejas

  • Hi Sirs,

Unfortunately we do not have more details about the end equipment and application.
Are they suitable solutions if we implement ISO1211 for digital input and ISO714x + DRV8803 for digital out?
    Can they meet out requirements?
    Thanks.
  • Hi Shu-Cheng LIN,

Yes, ISO1211 can meet digital input requirement.

For Digital output, we have a design suggestion that can be used. Can you please share your email id and we will get in touch with you.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Sirs,

    Thanks!

    Please help send mail to

  • Hi Sirs,

We did not receive the e-mail . Could you please also check if TPS4H160 is a suitable solution to meet our digital out requirements.

If yes, What the difference between DRV8803 and TPS4H160?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Shu-Cheng,

Sorry for delay in response, I have started a email thread, lets continue the discussion over email.

    Thanks,

    Regards

    Tejas

  • A smart power switch such as TPS4H160 or TPS27S100 are reasonable choices to drive the outputs, depending on the need for single vs multichannel requirements. Both of these devices are high side switches. Here are the details on the TPS27S100:

    TPS27S100 -- www.ti.com/.../tps27s100.pdf
    • Up to 40V recommended operating conditions
    • Up to 4A of DC current
    • 0.5uA of off-state output leakage current
    • Max RDSON = 166mOhm, @ 500mA = <0.3V voltage drop
    • < 0.5ms on/off times
    • Protection: short circuit protection, over current protection (programmable), over temperature protection (thermal shutdown), with auto-retry
