ISO7842: When DC voltage applied case

Part Number: ISO7842

Hello,

There is a description as below which equivalent DC voltage when applied DC, not AC case.  There is a spec 2828VDC in DWW package case of VIOWM. Do we think ok DC spec is equal with AC peak voltage? For example VISO is 5700Vrms. In this case, 5700 x 1.414=8060VDC?

Best regards,

Toshihiro Watanabe

  • Hi Watanabe-san,

I discussed this with our team expert on this. Here is a summary:

-Technically , the VISO spec ( 5.7kv RMS ) and VIOTM spec (8000 V peak) are for 60 seconds duration.
-The DC performance rated per datasheet is 2828V for the DWW package.
    - Our DC performance is quite strong. Internal data shows DC to be on par /better than AC performance, so this should be OK.

Having said this, can you please tell us more background on this?
Is there an application you havethat requires 8000V DC working voltage? What is the expected lifetime ?

  • Hello Abhi-san,
Thank you for your answer. specified as Vrms is only VIOWM and VISO so we can say DC is stronger than AC.
There is a concern if DC is weaker than AC because DC voltage is always applied the same voltage, AC is cycled which there is a period lower voltage but there is a higher voltage.
The working voltage is 1500V DC. I may ask you something later in newer post.
    Best regards,
