[FAQ] What is the current consumption of the isolated I2C devices, ISO1540 and ISO1541?

Part Number: ISO1541ISO1540
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1540

What is the current consumption of the isolated I2C devices, ISO1540 and ISO1541?

  • The current consumption of ISO1540 and ISO1541 without any pull-up resistors is given in Table 6.10 Supply Current Characteristics in the ISO154x datasheet. When pull-up resistors are added there will be additional current drawn from the resistors. For example, with a pull-up resistor of 1kΩ at SDA2/SCL2 and 10kΩ at SDA1/SCL1 of ISO154x with VCC1 = VCC2 = 5V, the additional current consumed by the pull-up resistors will be ~5mA for SDA1/SCL1 and ~0.5mA for SDA2/SCL2.
