ISO7140CC: Can the ISO 7140 VCC2 power supply be forced to increase to 8V?

Part Number: ISO7140CC

The figure above shows the recommended operating conditions for the ISO7140 digital isolator, where VCC2 is 2.7V~5.5V.

Because my circuit design is wrong, now VCC2 power supply up to 8V, can the chip be able to support 8V power supply and operate normally?

  • Hi zoujiangyilang,

Thank you for using E2E forums!

As you correctly pointed out, VCC2 of upto 8V violates the Recommended Operating Conditions of the device. The Absolute Maximum Ratings in the datasheet (Section 6.1) tabulates the maximum stresses beyond which there may be permanent damage to device.

Supply voltage of 8V, violates the absolute maximum ratings as well. Beyond a supply voltage of 6V may cause permanent damage to device and the device reliability may be affected.

Please find the attached snippet from the datasheet for your reference.

I hope this answers your question.

    Best regards,
