ISO1042: How to determine the ICC2 current consumption

Part Number: ISO1042

Hi Dan,

I have one question about how to determine the ICC2 value when I connect CANL/CANH to many CAN nodes? Will it be affected by the number of nodes? Thanks.

  • Hi Charles,

The ICC2 current consumption value doesn't depend on the number of nodes connected to CAN bus. The CAN is expected to have only two termination resistors with each having a value of 120Ω at the two extreme ends of CAN bus. Since the effective termination of 60Ω (formed by two termination resistors in parallel) is not going to change with the number of nodes on CAN bus, a CAN transceivers current consumption is not expected to change either.

The ICC2 value of ISO1042 should stay within the limits defined in datasheet, as also shown below. Thanks.
