As cable length increases then so does the capacitance of the cable and therefore the max data rate possible will decrease as cable length increases. The document “Signal Integrity Versus Data Rate and Cable Length for RS-485 Transceivers “ provides data on cable length vs data rate for some particular non-isolated RS485 transceivers. While this data may not be specially for isolated RS-485 transceivers, they still use similar transceiver technology and this information can be used as a general guideline for understanding this relationship between data rate and cable length.
