SN6501: Transformer selection

Part Number: SN6501

Hi Team,

My customer would like to design SN6501 into their schematic and the system spec. is as following.

Input voltage: 5V

Output voltage: 6.2V

Output current: 35mA

Customer is choosing a transformer and would like to know is it proper for this application. I can send transformers spec. by mail for reviewing.

Besides, is there any recommended transformer that except listed in datasheet can be shared with customer?

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Vincent,

Thank you for posting to E2E!

For this circuit, a transformer with turns ratio >1.24 will be needed. If our customer has selected a transformer already, feel free to share the data sheet or part number in a reply. Of course, we can also discuss the transformer over Personal Message rather than email if that is preferred.

Will this output voltage need to be exactly 6.2V, or is slightly higher acceptable?

Transformers other than those included on the SN650x datasheets are compatible with SN6501. I can follow up with a part recommendation based on all the desired load specs. We are working to update SN650x datasheets with new transformers continuously.

    Thank you,

    Manuel Chavez

  • Hi Vincent, all,

This conversation has been moved to email for analysis of a custom transformer. Our solutioin will be summarized and posted soon.
