ISO7841: Using ISO7841 for isolation of SPI lines to communicate with two AD74413R

Part Number: ISO7841

Hi,

I have chosen ISO7841 part for providing isolation of SPI lines. I am planning to use the same SPI lines for communication between two AD74413R. Can you please confirm if it is fine to use for this application.

Waiting your reply.

Thank you,

Menaka

  • Hi Menaka,

I believe you want to use ISO7841 to isolate AD74413R from maybe an MCU where one side of isolator (let's say Side1) is connected to MCU and the other side (Side2) is connected to AD74413R. On the side where there is AD74413R (Side2), you want to check if another AD74413R can be connected to Side2 of ISO7841.

The answer is yes, multiple SPI nodes can be connected to the isolator. To enable addressing the isolators uniquely, you may need to assign addresses to individual nodes and implement a protocol in the software to uniquely address these devices. I am not quite sure if AD74413R already has such features in-built, if it doesn't have then you will probably have to use additional pin like ENABLE to individually enable the SPI nodes.

Hope this answers your question, thank you.
