ISO1050: layout review

Part Number: ISO1050

Dear expert,

My customer is using ISO1050 to isolated communicate between MCU and system. Their power stage topology is isolated, primary Vin is 180-264Vac, secondary has two windings, output 3.3V and 5V2. To provide isolated power for ISO1050, they use Vcc1=3.3V and Vcc2=5V2. However the two Vcc are isolated but all from secondary outputs.

So my customer would like to know, for this case( the MCU and ISO1050 Vcc1 are connected to the secondary ground, and the ISO1050 Vcc2 is also connected to the secondary floating 5V2), do they still need to ensure the safety distance? Is it OK that they lay out as below? Thanks for your advices.

  • Hi Minqi,

Thanks for reaching out to us for customer implementation review.

To make sure I better understand customer requirement, could you please share us a broader schematic and PCB layout showing connections between power supply and MCU? It would also help me understand the requirement better if you could share more information related customer application. I would like know what end equipment is this and where exactly does ISO1050 fit in this system.

If you cannot share the schematic and PCB layout here on E2E, then you can send me an email. Thanks.
