Hi,

there are two usages as below:

   1.  I want to know if Vcc1&Vcc2 must be different, can they be the same ? .Because I just want to islate the I2C signals, not the voltage?

   2. Vcc1&Vcc2 are different, the GND1 &GND2 must be differnt too, can they be the same ?

Please help me analysing  the usage?

  Thanks!

Jo

  • Hi Jo,

    Please find below my inputs.

    1. VCC1 and VCC2 can be independently powered and hence be at any voltage within the recommended operating voltage. This means that it can be either the same or different.
    2. The primary intent of using the I2C isolator is to isolate the signals and for which the power supplies also need to be isolated from each other including their GND references. If you are using the I2C isolator for level shifting or translation then the two GNDs need not be isolated but can be different potentials.
