Hi TI-team

Maybe it's basic.

Does it work normally when the following surge voltages are repeatedly applied ?

Vpeak:150V Trise:5ns Tfall:0.1us Period:2ms,2.5ms,3ms.

Which characteristics of the data sheet can be used to judge ?

    Could you please confirm where exactly are you considering to apply the said surge waveform periodically? Is it between GND1 and GND2? Or at the input pins?

    If it is between GND1 and GND2 then this shouldn't be a problem as the device can withstand a continuous voltage of upto 1500Vrms across the isolation barrier throughout its life. Hence, 150V of surge waveform shouldn't be a problem..

    If you are referring to applying such surge waveform at the input pins of isolator with respect to its local GND, then the device can get damaged. The input pins are not rated to withstand any surge voltage applied across its pins. Thanks.

    I believe the surge is applied to the power supply lines of an end equipment which could be either AC (110V/230V) or DC (12V/24V/others) and not applied direct at VCC1/GND1 pins. For this test condition, ISO7763 doesn't see the surge waveform directly and hence is not impacted.

    If customer indeed applies 150V surge on VCC1/GND1 then ISO7763 will not be able to support it as the device supply pins are not designed to support such surge voltages. This should be applicable for most digital isolator VCC/GND pins as most of them are not designed for surge. Thanks.
