ISO7763-Q1: Need tristate isolator equivalent to ISO7763-Q1

Part Number: ISO7763-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7741, ISO7763, ISO7710, ISO7731

Dear All,

I am looking for Ttristate isolator equivalent with ISO7763-Q1.(pin to pin compatible),Please Suggest.

Thanks in advance,

Bhupathi

  • Hi Bhupathi,

ISO7763 is available in 16-pin WB SOIC package and 12 out of 16 pins are used by the 6 data channels. Hence, there is no provision for providing an enable feature which can make the outputs put into tri-state. We have the ISO77xx family of devices available in lower number of channels and those devices have enable option available. If 4 channels or less are okay then you can use device like ISO7741 to achieve tri-state outputs. If you need to have 6 channels and still need tri-state function then you would have have to use two of 3-channel devices.

Could you please also confirm if you would need to control the individual outputs and make them tri-state individually? In this is the case then you will have to use single channel device ISO7710 to be able to do that.

I hope this helps you answer your questions, thanks.

  • Hello Koteshwar Rao,

    Thanks for your immediate Reply.

we need 6 channel since it is used in External ADC SPI application.

We have connected Two Devices in the Same SPI channel both devices has separate chip select options.

    1.Isolated Gate driver

    2.External ADCADS7951-Q1+Isolator (ISO7763-Q1)

When we communicate to Gate driver External ADC connected Isolator is loading  (MRST) because of that we are not getting sufficient voltage at the micro controller side.

Could you suggest any suitable Isolator to overcome this issue ?

    Regards,

    Bhupathi

  • Hi Bhupathi,

Thanks for sharing additional information. I understand you would require 6-channel isolator to be able to interface to ADC. Unfortunately, ISO7763 runs out of pins to be able to protect output enable pins and hence you currently do not see them. The best and quick way to address this is by using the devices that have output enable feature and most of ISO77xx family excluding 6-channels version have output enable option. Hence, I recommend using two ISO7731 option.

Another option is use an external tri-state buffer which can be used at the output of ISO7763.

Let me know if you have any questions, thank you.
