ISO7740: maximum for data rate on capacitor isolated method

Part Number: ISO7740

Hello expert,

My customer is asking for difference between Inductive/capacitive isolated difference on data rate. Do we have benefit on data rate with capacitive isolated? And also, do we have maximum data rate support on capacitive isolated? Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

The isolation methodology (capacitive or inductive) might not directly decide the maximum datarate. The maximum datarate is primarily dependent on the overall design of the device and currently ISO7740 supports 100Mbps. This is already high enough datarate for single-ended signals to be transmitted reasonably to another device on the PCB. For any higher datarates, it is recommended to use differential signals like LVDS. Thanks.
