ISO7720: Low output at no VCC2

Part Number: ISO7720

Hello team,

Our customer is considering to replace from photo coupler to ISO7720 but they would like to make sure that ISO7720 can output low at low input to INA, INB even if VCC2 is not supplied.

If VCC2 is mandatory, they couldn’t replace to our ISO7720 but are there any proposal ?

Thank you and best regards,

Michiaki

  • Hi Michiaki,

When VCC2 is >UVLO, the output will always follow the input. When VCC2 = 0V, all the outputs on side2 will be in Hi-Z which will be read as 0V. With this, I guess customer should be clear to replace their optocoupler with ISO7720.

As an additional information, for any VCC2 voltage between 0V and UVLO, the output mostly stays in Hi-Z but can be anywhere between 0V and UVLO. If customer can use a pull-down resistor at the output (like 4.7kΩ) then this will also help clear out any charge at the output pin.

You can also share the below white paper to customer that compares ISO77xx with optocouplers, thanks.
