ISO3082: Can bus-side support 3.3V?

Part Number: ISO3082
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1410

Hi Team,

The datasheet says the voltage on bus side should be 5V, however, the test shows that ISO3082 works well when the supply voltage is 3.3V and the data rate is 115200bps.

So could you please help confirm if ISO3082 is designed to be compatible with 3.3V on bus-side? Thanks!

Best Regards!

Hao

  • Hi Hao,

ISO3082 doesn't support 3.3V operation on VCC2 and 3.3V is only supported on VCC1, as stated in datasheet. If you do test a typical sample under typical operating conditions in lab, you might find some samples working fine but this is not guaranteed across temperature and across samples. Some typical samples might work fine because the margins to datasheet specifications.

We have ISO1410 which is our latest version isolated RS-485 transceiver that supports both 3.3V and 5V operation on the bus and is also pin-compatible to ISO3082. ISO14xx family also has various device options to support various datarate, half / full duplex and various isolation ratings. Please do recommend customer to use ISO1410 over ISO3082, thanks.
