ISO1050: Add beads to filter out noise on VCC2

Part Number: ISO1050

Hi,

my customer sometimes will observe around 20MHz noise on VCC2(yellow line below), and the communication will be interrupted when there is noise:

They tried to unsolder VCC2 of the device to the pads and add a wire between VCC2 of the device and the pad on PCB to filter out the noise and the communication won't be interrupted any more. The wire act like an inductor.

So they think it would good for them to add a bead on VCC2.

Is it okay to do this? Are there any risk of adding bead to VCC2?

  • Hi Howard:

Thanks for posting your customers question on E2E!

It's quite unusual to observe such Vcc2 noise transients when the Vcc2 power is designed and working properly. Can you please provide details on how Vcc2 is provided to ISO1050? Please be sure to include the Vcc2 power device and details of the supply filtering scheme.

Adding ferrite bead to the Vcc2 supply will not impact the ISO1050 operation. However, I'd suggest that you validate the Vcc2 solution first.
