ISO7760: Question on Power Rail

Part Number: ISO7760

Hi Team,

My customer is using the ISO7760F to isolate signals from an FPGA and signal to analog switch.

We’re trying to understand if it’s acceptable to run this part at different Vcc based on each own gnd reference. In the datasheet, all examples are using Vcc1 = Vcc2. For this isolate, is this possible Vcc1 = 2.5V and Vcc2 = 5V? It’s also important to note that GND2 could be up to 60V and GND1 is the system gnd.

Thanks,
Mitchell

  • Hi Mitchell,

Thank you for posting to E2E!

Yes, it is possible to power each side of TI's digital isolators at different voltage levels with respect to their local GND, as long as they are within the recommended operating conditions. For ISO7760, Vcc1 = 2.5V w.r.t GND1 and Vcc2 = 5V w.r.t GND2 is acceptable.

A 60V difference between GND1 and GND2, Vcc1 and Vcc2, GND1 and Vcc2, or Vcc1 and GND2 are also acceptable, since this is well within the DC working isolation voltage spec of 566V.
