Regrading start up voltage of TPIC7401-q1 (buck/boost switch mode regulator)

If my driving voltage is 3v or less than 5V(minimum 3V) , does the tpic74101-q1 start and have self buck/boost transitioning? or should the start up voltage be always greater than 5V?

My input voltage(V_driver) varies from 3V to 30V.

p.s the start up voltage mentioned in the specification (datasheet) is mentioned as 5V maximum

kindly suggest.

yep,

it starts in boost mode and then automatically changes if IN Vs OUT conditions change...

Vdriver must be between 1.5V and 5V at the start-up, so ok for your case...

Per page 12 of the TPIC74101 datasheet, the Vdriver supply must be greater than or equal to 5V for greater than 1 ms (typical) to ensure a stable 5V output voltage. After reaching 5V for 1 ms, the part will be able to operate down to 1.5V. So the part will not start with a Vdriver voltage of 3V.
