TPS43351-Q1 short to battery

I would like to know the behavior of this device when the output is shorted to battery or other supplys.

I am concerned that the low side fet keeps open. (sinking the current continually?)

please see section "Current Sensing and Current Limit With Foldback" on page 13 of the datasheet:
The part includes reverse current limit and will turn off the LS-FET in such a condition. A pre-requisite for this tor work is obviously, that the fault-current is flowing over the sense-resistor. The sense-current limits can be found in datasheet page 4, parameter 4.5.
