Starterware/TMDSICE3359: Issues in using TMDSICE3359 development board

Dear support team ,

Am just new to TI world. Started working in TI sitara processor before one week. I couldn't find any support documents or videos to program my development board TMDSICE3359 .

Starter ware Used : AM335X_Starter Ware_02_00_01_01

IDE : CCS compiler 7.2.0 v

DEV Board : TMDSICE3359

Planning to use this board for ethernet\ip protocol , but now unable to toggle led in this board.

So please kindly help me with proper and useful solution ASAP.

Does this AM335X_Starter Ware_02_00_01_01 supports this board???

Sujitha,

Are you using the Processor SDK RTOS pacakge? software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html
If not, please grab this package and take a look at the examples at C:\ti\pdk_am335x_1_0_7\packages\MyExampleProjects. There are Ethernet examples at this location to help.

Also, for training info, please see training.ti.com/processor-sdk-device-drivers-setup-test

Sujitha,
As I had mentioned previously, you will have to generate the example projects folder by running a .bat file. The instructions are here processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Rebuilding_The_PDK

There is a BARE_METAL macro in some examples that configures the project to run without BIOS.

Just followed the steps given in above link,but in last step i.e. project extraction getting error as "! ERROR : No products of type 'com.ti.rtsc.SYSBIOS' are currently installed "

But i have installed bios_6_46_05_55 version in same folder.

what would be the error in steps i followed?? Please reply ASAP

Sujitha,

Do you have all the Processor SDK components registered with CCS? (In CCS, Window>preferences>Code Composer Studio>Products)

Ensure all dependent/prerequisite products are installed and registered with CCS before proceeding with the examples and/or unit test. Starting CCS after installing the Processor SDK products will cause CCS to find and register any new products. Errors will occur during PDK project creation if any dependent products have not been registered with CCS.

Really awesome, thank you so much for above suggestions. Am able to work with sample coding.

Since am new to TI world ,need some basics about Sys-bios and it is compulsory to use sd card for running os??? just need clarification which part of processor runs os and which part runs application code.

My ultimate goal is to use this board for Ethernet/IP protocol , so need some documents regarding this.

While compiling C:ti/pdk_am335x_1_0_7/packages/MyExampleProjects/ GPIO_LedBlink_icev2AM335x_armTestProject getting warnings as below:

Moreover LED program running quite good after programming but once turn off the power , program gets erased don't know the reason.

Sujitha,

I would recommend taking a look at the training material provided by TI:
training.ti.com/introduction-processor-sdk-rtos-part-1

training.ti.com/application-development-using-processor-sdk-rtos

There are a lot of other training material at that site to help you get started.
You don't need to use the SD card to run your programs. You can use the CCS debugger to load the .out file generated when you build the project. Yes, you will have to load the binary everytime you power cycle the board and load via CCS. Otherwise, you can some other non-volatile flash to burn your image onto the the board. I don't recall off the top what flash types are available on the ICEv2, but please take a look.
The warnings you mentioned won't impede you running the demo, but in order to resolve those, check the CCS project properties under resource?linked resource for any paths that aren't resolving.

Dear Lali,

ICEv2 board have SPI FLASH (W25Q64) , so i used SPI flash tool from C: ti>pdk_am335x_1_0_7>packages>ti>starterware>tools>flash_writer>src>spi-flash-writer_AM335x to program binaries in to spi flash permanently.

Able to erase flash using SPI flash tool code but while programming starts code flashing code gets repeatedly running in same line as shown below in pic.

So need help regarding flashing SPI Flash memory using this tool . Or any other method for flashing??how to and where to put SPI boot loader program??

Dear Lali,

Am able to flash both boot loader binary at address 0x00 and application binary at 0x20000 address in spi flash (ICEV2 Board) successfully but once after reset my application is not working .

SPI_Flasher Used : C:\ti\pdk_am335x_1_0_7\packages\ti\starterware\tools\flash_writer\src\spi-flash-writer_AM335x\SPI_Flasher

SPI_Boot loader_Binary Used : C:\ti\pdk_am335x_1_0_7\packages\ti\starterware\binary\bootloader\bin\am335x-evm\gcc\bootloader_boot_mcspi_a8host_debug.bin

Application_Binary Used: C:\ti\pdk_am335x_1_0_7\packages\MyExampleProjects\GPIO_LedBlink_icev2AM335x_armTestProject\Debug\GPIO_LedBlink_icev2AM335x_armTestProject.bin

As per hardware settings J5 jumper connected in 2&3 position for booting from SPI Flash and SYSBOOT[4:0] -11000b connected as per hardware user guide.

Still i was unable to boot from SPI flash. What would be wrong in steps i followed???have to move on to next step in my project quickly so please help me to sort out this problem ASAP.

Dear Lali,

Thank you so much for your responses.

SPI bootloader gets working and application retains after power off. Applications retains after flashing C:\ti\pdk_am335x_1_0_7\packages\MyExampleProjects\GPIO_LedBlink_icev2AM335x_armTestProject\Debug\app file.

Which means after loading app file only coding gets retain after power off ,Previously loaded only .bin file so only application doesn't work after power off condition.

So just need the clarification why app file works and .bin doesn't???

Moreover need difference between .map , .out , .bin & app output file.
