Help to choose between ARM or DSP for running a general purpose application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

Generally ARM device are meant to be general purpose and DSP is meant for signal processing. Furthermore the lack of support for SYSBIOS and NDK for ARM core in 66x devices, our team is planning for only DSP enabled multi-core devices in TI multi-core series where we get a favourable amount of support and resources which are found satisfactory for our project purpose.

To move forward, we need to quantify the capability of executing a general purpose application (in our case a TETRA STACK)  in DSP devices compared to ARM core. Some pieces of information from various documents and benchmark suggest the current DSP architecture is powerful compared to ARM cores.

Since we are much interested to keep our design in Real time profile, the choice is shifted to SYS/BIOS than an LINUX running on ARM core for our aplication

Kindly provide some insight to this discussion and it may help many users too.
