Hello,

how to start counter in background???

means pbit test i m doing for 15 sec. once 15sec completed i should come out from test. in this case i want to monitor 15 sec delay so how to monitor 15 sec while doing pbit opration???

I am not certain what you mean with PBIT operation.
However, you should be able to use the timers to count your 15seconds.
At the start of your test, you can enable the timer. It can then generate an interrupt at desired time that you can use to stop the test.

I would recommend taking some of the MSP430 training to give you examples of capability and programming of the MSP430 family.
