TPS62110-HT Overtemperature Shutdown

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62110-EP, TPS62110-HT

Currently we have a design that utilizes the TPS62110-EP, however we have a new requirement to operate up to 150C which is a problem for this part because it has a shutdown temperature of 145C nominal.  Luckily the TPS62110-HT (which is a different package unfortunately and will require a board spin to design in) is rated up to 175C.  The front page of the datasheet and the block diagram mention overtemperature protection, but nowhere in the text of the datasheet does it say what the thermal shutdown protection is.  I would like to be sure that the shutdown temperature is sufficiently above 150C.

  • Greg,

The recommended temperature maximum is, in fact, 125C, but from everything I have read it looks like the absolute maximum is 150C. The datasheet also states the shutdown temperature is 145C, so it is safe to assume that 145C will be your absolute maximum before shutdown.
