LM124-SP: LM124-SP and LM124A-SP

Part Number: LM124-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM124, , LM124A, LM124AQML-SP

Hi Support,

I have some queries regarding LM124 from TI. There are 2 variants of this part for space grade, LM124-SP and LM124A-SP.

1) May I know what are the differences between the 2 parts?

2) Are they using the same die?

3) Are there any radiation reports for this 2 parts?

Thanks.

  • Hello Ikon,

I believe that you are looking at the LM124-SP and LM124AQML-SP since these are the two space versions of the LM124 that TI has available today; please correct me if I am wrong.

The answers to your questions are in bold:

    1) May I know what are the differences between the 2 parts?

The largest difference is that the LM124AQML-SP is of National Semiconductor origin and the LM124-SP is of TI origin. The LM124-SP has radiation tolerance to 50 krad while the LM124AQML-SP is radiation tolerant to 100 krad.  In addition, the LM124AQML-SP is available in a variety of package types, while the LM124-SP is available in CDIP (J) package. There are also some differences in performance and operation; more details can be found in the LM124-SP datasheet and the LM124AQML-SP datasheet.

    2) Are they using the same die?

I believe that the two products do not use the same die. I am working to confirm this and will reach back out to you once I receive verification.

    3) Are there any radiation reports for this 2 parts?

Radiation reports for many products can be found at ti.com/space or in the "Technical documents" tab of a specific device's product folder. For your convenience, the radiation reports for the LM124 products can be found here for the LM124AQML-SP and here for the LM124-SP

If this has answered your questions, please click the verified answer box so I can close out the question. If not, I will be happy to assist you with any further questions that you may have.

    Thanks,

    Bree Myers

  • Hello Ikon,

I was able to confirm that the LM124AQML-SP and LM124-SP have two different die.

    Thanks,
