MSP430F249-EP: Low Temperature CAN operation

Hi,

I am looking for a Microcontroller that can operate to below -46oC and must have an A-D and CAN interface.

The MSP430F249-EP appears ideal, but does not have a CAN interface.

I have searched through the TI offerings, but only come up with SM470R1B1M-HT, which is a bit or overkill for what I am trying to do.

Can anyone point me at a microcontroller that meets the above spec?

The HT version of the F2812 may work for you.

Another option that is newer, and more supportable than the SM470R1B1M would be the TMS570LS3137-EP.
If the SM470 is overkill, then this will be as well.

We also have a TMS320F28377D-EP C2000 processor on the roadmap that will also have CAN and support down to -55c.

Hi Wade,

Thank you for coming back so quickly.

The F2812 datasheet suggests the device is a 172 pin CQFP and is a bit on the large side. Also as you suggest the SM470 is also way more than I need.

The TMS320F28377D-EP C2000 is of interest as it can be in a 100 pin PQFP. What is the timeline for the -55oC part and approximate cost?

What would be really good would be a -55oC TMS320F2803 Piccolo part. Any chance?

Also, there is an EP version of the F2812 as well. This will be smaller than ceramic, but still 176pin.

I will check with marketing team on estimated schedule for the 28377. Business case will be biggest driver for new releases.

I missed checking the fixed point C2000 EP series for -55 and CAN.
You really have 3 options. F2801, F2808, and F2812.

Following up on a question I asked yesterday, is there a chance the smaller piccolo part might be made an EP part (-55oC)?

The 28337 is forecast to be released December of this year.
To my knowledge we do not have smaller version in the roadmap. However, I will have our marketing contact you to discuss.
