Linux root file system for Jorjin ATCN (OMAP4460) SOM

Hi All,

   we are designing custom board using Jorjin ATCN  module. we are working on Linux driver development.

looking for suitable file system. where can we get Arago based file system. can we use Ubuntu file system?

Pls advise us.

    You can use the both file systems (Arago or Ubuntu)  for your Jorjin ATCN.

    Ubuntu file system:

    Ubuntu file-system step 1: minimal file system generation:

    The current easiest way to get a Ubuntu file-system, is to generate it using the 'rootstock' tool.

    The raw process (which is described in more details here after) is in 2 steps: > Generate a basic image using the rootstock Ubuntu tool > Boot on this basic file-system and install additional packages

    The 1st step is discussed in this chapter.

    Rootstock is a tool running on a Ubuntu host, relying on qemu, that permits to generate Ubuntu FS.

    (Pre-requisites to generate Lucid images: Ubuntu workstation connected to internet with Karmic (09.10) or more recent Ubuntu release installed.)

    • get the rootstock tool to generate the image:
      • If you are running a Ubuntu Lucid host, just run:
    sudo apt-get install rootstock
    
    • to generate a minimal image, use the following command line (example to generate a lucid FS):
    sudo rootstock -d lucid -f ubuntu -l ubuntu -p ubuntu --serial ttyO2 --locale en_US.UTF-8 -s ubuntu-minimal,openssh-server,nano
    

    Note that openssh-server and nano packages are just added for convenience.

    => will generate a tgz images containing a basic FS.

    Arago file system:

    Arago TI SDK is compatible with OMAP4. You can obtain more information through the link http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/EZSDK_Filesystems  and http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/meta-ti/

    I want to notice that there is not an official release for EZSDK for OMAP4. However, Arago TI SDK is https://github.com/mrchapp/meta-arago/blob/master/meta-arago-distro/recipes-core/images/arago-base-tisdk-image.bb

    Thanks a lot for the details.

    we tried with both ubuntu FS and Blaze rootfs. board is not coming till the prompt.


    Also we tried with Arago based rootfs which was working on AM3730  based Panther board.

    with this board is coming till prompt. we are able enter commands like ls, ifconfig 

    But some time during booting at  login itself it gives some junk and boot up hangs. below is the bootlog for your reference.

    Note:  we are using arm tool chain(arm-2010q1) to compile kernel

    Pls advise on this.
