use TEVMXXX-CAM-V1-0 as android front camera

i'm tring to run an android application that use the front camera using TEVMXXX-CAM-V1-0 module.

if ii connect the camera to "camera 1" port i can refer it only as BACK camera, and when i connect the camera module to the "camera 2" port , the device dosn't recognizing the camera.

look for recognition by run camera_test f command on the adb shell screen.

is there any way to refer the camera as FRONT camera to have the mirroring effect ?

camera facing (front/back) is defined through some parameter files called DCC. It maybe difficult for you to modify DCC files, but you can have a simple workaround in ICS CameraHAL. In the file hardware/ti/omap4xxx/camera/CameraHal_Module.cpp, there is a function camera_get_camera_info(). This function reads the capabilities and sets the facing as specified in DCC file. You can override this setting and force the camera to be always back facing by setting

face_value = CAMERA_FACING_BACK;

info->facing = face_value;

i forgot you wanted front facing, you should set

face_value = CAMERA_FACING_FRONT;

info->facing = face_value;

for that i will be needing to rebuild the android ?

if so, where can i find the source code?

if not , i can't find the file you mentioned in the device.

p.s.

the front camera usage is avalible by camera 2 port ( there is some application that use this port as front camera so i know it can be done by application program.

but i don't know how

camera 2 port is for secondary camera. You can use it if you have 2 cameras. If you connect only the secondary camera and not the primary, CameraHAL will fail during init, unless you tweak the HAL to select secondary camera by default.
