Difference of price between bq500211A and bq500212A

Dear all,

 

Please teach me the reason for difference of price between bq500211A and bq500212A.

 

At previous posting, TI employee (Mr.Bill Johns) said about main functionally differences as below.

Bq500212A vs bq500211A

1.)    Both devices are WPC 1.1—will support FOD

2.)    Power section for both are the same.

3.)    212A is designed to support low power standby mode without MSP430

4.)    212A has FOD_CAL Pin, this feature will make it easier to calibrate unit for FOD

Are these reasons for the difference of price??

I care about the difference of price.

    The bq500212A total solution cost will be lower, no MSP430 required. The sleep and snooze function will used a low cost RC time constant to reduce cost.

    Many of the other functions are the same, power section and input current sense are the same.  The bq500212A EVM will use a CSD97376 power stage but this can be replace with the power stage from the 211A EVM.  Also the 211A will use an LDO for 3.3V while the 211A will use a switching converter, both will work on your design depending on requirement.
