bq500511+bq50002 current consumption

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ500511, BQ50002

Hi,

What is the bq500511+bq50002 current consumption data?

I notice in bq500511 datasheet, active mode current is about 3.45mA, while low power mode current is about 285uA.

What are the use cases for active mode and low power mode?

When the Charging TX IC bq500511 is continuous pinging the RX device and nothing found for long time, is it still in lower power mode?

Does active mode meaning the actual charging from TX IC to RX IC is running?

If it is not in the charging status (i.e. long time search status), what is the total power consumption for bq500511+bq50002?

What is the time interval for every ping from bq500511 to RX device?

Since I want to use battery as Charging TX IC source instead of external DC, so current consumption is important.

Regards

Rongfeng

  • Hi Rongfeng
The average input power to the system with no RX on is about 9mA at 5V or 45mW. This includes power consumption of digital ping every 5 sec, analog ping every 400mS and low power standby between pulses.
The system is designed to operate from an AC / DC adapter and does not have the very aggressive power management features seen in battery operated devices. If you are considering operating the TX from a battery I would recommend some type of short time user enable option such as a push button. Other sensors could be used to detect the receiver presents, possibly a hall effect sensor.
  • Hi,

    Thank you for your suggestion.
For the proximity sensor (inductive type or capacitive type), if it is placed near the TX coil (e.g. both at product top side beneath cover), whether the sensor will be interfered by the TX coil during charging or TX-RX communication? The on/off output from sensor should not be changed during wireless charging active period.

  • Hi,

Do you have any idea about my above question?
