BQ51050B: Rx tuning and correct Load usage

Part Number: BQ51050B

Hello all,

My questions are about the EVM of BQ51050B - the bq51050BEVM-764

i refer to the below datasheet of this component

http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluua25c/sluua25c.pdf

my questions are :

1) can it use other coil for Rx ?
2)what capacitors should be replaced for Rx tuning? C1,C2,C3? Is there a formula for that?
3) can I place 4 ohm (25 Watt) resistor as load? Instead of the Emulator depicted in the data sheet in Figure 3?

Thanks

Igor

  • Hi Igor
    1) can it use other coil for Rx ? --- Bill J-Yes a large number of RX coil are available.
2)what capacitors should be replaced for Rx tuning? C1,C2,C3? Is there a formula for that?---Bill J - Yes tuning is needed see data sheet for instructions
    3) can I place 4 ohm (25 Watt) resistor as load? Instead of the Emulator depicted in the data sheet in Figure 3?---Bill J - No this would not work. The bq51050B expects to see a voltage and other characters of a battery, if it is only a resistive load it will be declared a shorted battery and unit will shutdown.
