TXB0101: Could TXB0101 use 3.3V supply when transfer 3.3V to 1.8V?

Part Number: TXB0101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV740P, SN74LVC1G17

Hi team,

My customer need an unidirectional level shifter to transfer 3.3V to 1.8V. However, they only have 3.3V supply on board. I read the TXB0101 datasheet and I think it could not use 3.3V supply like this. For unidirectional level shifter, will output voltage always follow power supply? If not, could you recommend a level shifter for this? Thank you~

  • The TXB needs two power supplies. Consider adding an LDO like the TLV740P.
(For unidirectional downtranslation, you can replace the TXB with a simple buffer with an overvoltage-tolerant input like the SN74LVC1G17, but that one still needs the 1.8 V supply.)

The only way to generate a lower voltage without a separate power supply would be a voltage divider. Its power usage might be too high.
