CD4010B: Pin-level ESD

Part Number: CD4010B

Hi Team,

Do we have data on the ESD voltage and current details at pin level for CD4010B (PW package)?

Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards,

Jejomar

  • Hey Jejomar,

This device is a bit older so we unfortunately don't have any information on the ESD data. The automotive qualified version of this device has ESD data (HBM up to 500V, CDM 1kV, and MM 100V). I'd expect it to be similar to this.
We can go ahead and push for testing if you'd like. However, this process can take anywhere from 1-2months.
    Thanks,
    Rami

  • Hello Rami,

Well noted on this, thanks! On the other hand do we have data on the maximum pulse rated current for 10µs at pin level?

    Kind Regards,

    Jejomar

  • Jejomar,

For logic devices the max current will be independent of the pulse time. That's to say, you shouldn't exceed the max current ratings for any amount of time.
For these older CD4K family of devices the output current limitation isn't listed as nice as the newer TI devices. The max power is listed rather than a current, which is something we can work with but isn't as nice as in more modern datasheets where the max output current is explicitly stated.
Digging around I found an old post where this is solved for the CD4K family of devices :

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/logic-group/logic/f/logic-forum/966368/cd4071b-output-current

So keeping your max current below 12mA at all times would seem like the same bet. You'll see it mentioned in the post that you can probably exceed this a little bit but it would just becoming increasingly risky as your current increases.

    Hope this helps,
    Rami
