SN74AXC1T45: Benefit to use SN74AXC1T45 instead of SN74LV1T125

Part Number: SN74AXC1T45
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LV1T125,

I usually do 1.8V to 3.3V level shift using SN74LV1T125. I find there is a direction-controlled version, SN74AXC1T45. I wonder what's the benefit to use it, except the controllable direction?

  • The primary benefit is the dual-supply device (SN74AXC1T45) will use far less power than the reduced threshold single supply device (SN74LV1T125).  It also allows more flexibility in routing because of the selectable direction -- most of our customers don't use the direction pin to switch directions, but to set the direction permanently.
